Summer Solstice & Rites of Passage Celebration 2026

June 27 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Overview

We invite families, elders, youth, & community members to join us in this celebration of culture, identity, ancestral wisdom, and music.

Join Tanika Riley of iNsight Circles, Nyasha of Elevated Grounds , NSAA Community , Sound Life and Redbird Circle Geodomes for a powerful gathering dedicated to reclaiming sacred and ancestral practices as we remember, honor, and embody ways of life that sustained our communities.

We invite families, elders, youth, and community members to join us in this celebration of culture, identity, ancestral wisdom, and collective healing. Together, we honor the past, celebrate the present, and plant seeds for future generations. Nestled within a beautiful natural setting, the Dome at Red Bird Circle offers a unique opportunity to gather in community while immersed in the healing presence of the land.

This special event will unfold in two interconnected parts:

  • A community celebration of our young men’s Rite of Passage Process
  • A Summer Solstice Ceremony rooted in African & Indigenous traditions.

Rite of Passage Ceremony

We will gather to honor and celebrate several of our community’s upstanding young men as they complete a significant coming-of-age journey. This sacred African Rites acknowledges their transition into manhood and their greater responsibility, leadership, and service within the community.

  • Public recognition of their growth, character, and commitment to community values.
  • Blessings and affirmations from elders, family members, and community leaders.
  • Cultural celebration marking their transition into manhood with dignity, purpose, and accountability.

Summer Solstice Ceremony: Honoring the Light

The Summer Solstice has long held significance among many African & Indigenous peoples as a time to honor the rhythms of nature, the abundance of life, and our relationship with the Creator.

Significance of the Summer Solstice

Celebration of Life and Abundance: Recognizing the season of growth, fertility, joy, community life and the fullness of the sun’s life-giving energy.

  • Alignment with Natural Cycles: Reaffirming our connection to the earth and the wisdom found in living in harmony with nature.
